What does the
ancient Greek term kathodos mean? Kathodos in short is
the ancient term used by the Pythagoreans and those before them to refer
to the descent of the soul, to the ‘process/audacity’ (tolma) and ‘necessity’
(ananke) of embodiment, the ‘downfall of the soul’. Kathodos in later Greek
Platonism became adopted in its definition by the Greek terms tolma and
ananke. Specifically kathodos is a metaphysical term to refer to the seemingly
bipolar nature of the Absolute, which however in fact rather refers to
the attribute of the Absolute, which in no way differs to the Absolute
in principle. Kathodos in summation is a conceptual term behind the Monistic
‘secret’ regarding the nature and werks of the Absolute. Those who know
what Kathodos means (gnosis) as pertains the Absolute, and how the logos
and kathodos are modalities of one attribute as examined from alternating
perspectives, are the genuine wisemen.

like Platonic Monism, including Advaita Vedanta, Plotinian Platonism, and
original Buddhism specifically.
To quote the late metaphysician, Dr. A.K. Coomaraswamy: “Buddhism
is most famous today for everything it originally never taught.”
As such Kathodos.com does not advocate nor endorse Theravada & Hinayana,
nor any form of Mahayana, Vajrayana, and certainly not Zen. None of these
sectarian creations are original to earliest Buddhism.

thereof, as such it is an anti-Guru, anti-Zen-Master, anti-Lama, anti-Rimpoche,
and anti-bhikkhu site adverse to any and all forms of superficial spiritual-materialism,
petty ritualisms, and the New-Age movement in general.
Kathodos.com is equally
adversarial to those who find counterfeit peace and grace in spiritual
trinkets, empirical pietism such as extreme bodily austerities such as
chanting, bowing, self-mortification, or those who find love towards cultish
Guru-personalities, other such pseudo-religious rubbish and meaningless
corporeal endeavors which are irrelevant to the gnosis which culminates
in the noetic liberation of spirit.
Kathodos.com's content
is hostile to illogical systems such as: secular humanism, creationism,
atheism, agnosticism, and the mass of pseudo-religionists such as those
who claim to be ‘Buddhists’, and spiritual…yet deny the very spirit
(atman, citta, nous) which is the only refuge
and light proclaimed in and of Buddhism and metaphysics at large.

“For the first time I see that www.kathodos.com exposes the original and
noble teachings of earliest Buddhism. As a religious and spiritual seeker,
I was greatly and utterly off-put by Buddhism all my life, I dismissed
it entirely offhand, such that it exuded little more than nothingism and
morality. However, having seen that the webmaster of www.kathodos.com not
only says exactly the contrary to this abysmal view, but gives countless
scriptural passages to back up his position, I have a great renewed interest
in (earliest) Buddhism and see that it was not a soul-denying dark break
from Vedanta, but a noble soul-affirming, and wisdom-advocating ontology
which taught the spiritual light and the path to same; a re-affirmation
of the core principle behind Upanishadic thought, which the webmaster (of
kathodos.com) has confirmed Gotama was
a teacher thereof.
It takes an independent scholar and Pali translator, not affiliated with
the dogmatism of (sectarian) present-day Buddhism to see this. After further
investigation into this (earliest) Buddhism, I see that the author of this
site is certainly not alone, but many other Pali translators and metaphysicians
hold exactly the same position. I find it odd that these experts are, seemingly
so, kept hidden by the hierarchical and corrupt status-quo, i.e. current
Buddhism.
In reading this website, I am reminded of the film “Luther”, wherein Luther
exposes the pompous and meaningless fetishism, Idolatry, and corrupt hierarchical
system of Catholicism, wherein the views of various Pope’s, and his evil
henchmen had supplanted the teachings of Jesus and the Bible as a whole;
had become a sham religion based upon power, name, money, robes, golden
‘holy’ trinkets, meaningless honors and so on.
That www.kathodos.com helped me see and guide me to the correct and scriptural
position of earliest Buddhism, and the many others who wrote on same, I
no longer am disgusted with Buddhism, in that it presents itself as a 'the
Absolute is non-being/nothingism' form of petty soul-negating materialism.”
